Girvan Food Pantry to Reopen

There’s exciting news for the Girvan community! VASA (Voluntary Action South Ayrshire) is delighted to announce the reopening of the Girvan Food Pantry on Thursday, 22 October 2026.

The community is invited to visit the pantry, have a look around and find out more about this valuable local resource. Whether you’ve used the pantry before, are new to the area or would simply like to learn more about what’s available, everyone is welcome.

How Does the Girvan Food Pantry Work?

The Girvan Food Pantry will offer surplus food items at greatly reduced prices, helping local people access good-quality, nutritious food at a more affordable cost.

Members can choose 10 food items for just £4, with a selection available across six food categories: meat, fruit and vegetables, carbohydrates, store cupboard essentials, dairy and treats. This gives members the opportunity to choose the items that best suit their needs and preferences, while maintaining independence and dignity of choice.

Donations are also welcomed in addition to the £4 membership cost. These contributions help keep food options well stocked and prices as low as possible for people experiencing food insecurity. Every pound donated helps support the pantry and keep this valuable community resource running.
