A New Community Bursary for Girvan

The Girvan Town Team is proud to announce the launch of a new Community Bursary, developed in partnership with the Lieutenancy of Ayrshire and Arran, to help ensure that financial circumstances do not prevent deserving individuals from being recognised and celebrated for their contributions to the community.

Last Thursday, Trustees and Members of the Girvan Town Team met with William Stafford, Vice Lord-Lieutenant, and Ritchie Conaghan, Deputy Lieutenant, to co-sign a Memorandum of Understanding formally establishing the bursary.

The initiative has been created in response to concerns that some individuals from Girvan and the surrounding villages, despite being worthy of recognition, may be unable to attend Royal Events supported by the Lord-Lieutenancy due to financial barriers. The bursary aims to help remove those obstacles, creating greater equality of access to both Royal and local events while ensuring that outstanding contributions to community life can be acknowledged and celebrated.

Speaking at the signing, William Stafford, Vice Lord-Lieutenant, said:

“The Lieutenancy are extremely grateful to the Girvan Town Team for their support with this initiative and I hope that it will drive equality of access to Royal Events over the next year or so.”

Lee Wilson, Chair and Trustee of the Girvan Town Team, highlighted the importance of the partnership and the positive impact it can have on local residents.

“It is an honour to work closely with the Lieutenancy of Ayrshire and Arran to make this happen.”

The Girvan Town Team is committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen community connections, celebrate local achievements, and ensure that opportunities for recognition are available to everyone, regardless of their financial circumstances.

This new bursary represents an important step towards making prestigious events more accessible while shining a light on the many individuals whose dedication, service, and achievements help make Girvan and the surrounding villages such special places to live and work.

We look forward to seeing the positive impact this initiative will have and to celebrating even more of the remarkable people who contribute so much to our community!
