Kimberley Guthrie, Chief Officer of Scotland Towns Partnership with Mark Greaves of South Ayrshire Council, John McCreath, Chair of Girvan Business Association and Lee Wilson Chair of Girvan Town Team

The visit marks the beginning of a collaborative relationship between the Business Association and Scotland’s Towns Partnership, with the shared goal of helping Girvan thrive.

“It is the intention that the Business Association and Scotland’s Town Partnership will work together to make our Town the best it can be. Kimberley’s visit is the first step in this journey. It was great to welcome Kimberley to the Town and introduce her to a number of businesses. She thoroughly enjoyed her visit and promised to return!”
John McCreath, Chair of the Girvan Business Association

Kimberley visited Margaret at her wonderful business and was highly impressed.

During her visit, Kimberley expressed her admiration for the dedication of local business owners and the important role they play in shaping strong, vibrant communities:

“Local businesses are the heartbeat of our communities. Every pound spent with them is an investment in the future. Choosing local helps protect jobs and safeguard services, creating a stronger economy and building community wealth.

And the people behind them are key to making our places vibrant, welcoming and successful. I really enjoyed meeting some of those behind fantastic businesses who are making a significant difference to life in Girvan.

Girvan Business Association is doing a great job in keeping money local for longer, helping people to live better lives locally.”
Kimberley Guthrie, Chief Officer, Scotland’s Towns Partnership

About Scotland’s Towns Partnership

Scotland’s Towns Partnership (STP) is the national collective for Scotland’s towns, representing and promoting their diversity while supporting the many organisations and groups that have a stake in them.

STP acts as:

  • A hub for news, resources, and good practice related to towns

  • A support network through events and shared learning opportunities

  • An influential voice in shaping policy that impacts towns and communities

  • A champion of localism through campaigns such as Scotland Loves Local, encouraging people across the country to think local first and support their high streets and businesses

The Partnership also leads on Scotland’s Improvement Districts, fostering the development and success of Improvement Districts across the country, and continues to advocate for the Town Centre Action Plan through the Cross Party Group on Towns and Town Centres.

This visit signals the beginning of a strong partnership, with exciting opportunities ahead to ensure that Girvan continues to grow as a welcoming, resilient, and successful town.
