Braving the Elements: Girvan to Lendalfoot Wellbeing Walk
On Sunday 7th September 2025, 20 walkers braved wet and windy weather to join the Girvan to Lendalfoot Wellbeing Walk—a highlight of the new ACE Autumn Walking Festival.
The Journey
Setting off from Dave’s Snack Bar in Girvan, the group followed a guided route over rolling hills to Lendalfoot, taking in sweeping coastal views, open countryside, and the iconic Ailsa Craig. The moderate walk balanced achievement with time to pause and enjoy the landscape.
The walk ended at Lendalfoot Community Hall before participants returned to Girvan Community Garden for hot drinks, sandwiches, and conversation.
A Day to Remember
Chris Saunders, CEO of Adventure Carrick, reflected on the event’s success:
“Even on a wet and windy day, the Autumn Walking Festival brought out the best of Girvan’s community spirit. Seeing 20 walkers of all ages enjoying the Lendalfoot route and then sharing food together in the Community Garden was a real reminder of how special this place is.”
Participants agreed:
“The weather didn’t dampen our spirits—walking together and sharing a hot drink afterwards was the perfect autumn day!” – Phil
“It was brilliant to meet new people and explore a walk I’d never done before. The community garden lunch was a lovely surprise.” – Stacy
“A fantastic event for all ages. The Town Team’s support made everyone feel welcome and cared for.” – Adrian, walk leader
Girvan Town Team’s Role
We were delighted to part-fund the event with a £250 grant, distributed in partnership with the National Lottery Community Fund. Supporting initiatives like this helps us bring people together, build community spirit, and encourage everyone to explore the landscapes on our doorstep.
