Helping Visitors Find Their Way: New Town Maps for Girvan
Part-funded by a £250 grant distributed by Girvan Town Team in partnership with the National Lottery Community Fund, the Girvan Tourist Information Point and Craft Shop has launched a brand-new tear-off town map to help both visitors and locals explore everything Girvan and the surrounding area have to offer.
Designed with Visitors and Locals in Mind
Designed to be simple and easy to use, the double-sided map includes a detailed layout of Girvan’s streets, highlighting useful features like public toilets, parking, and popular attractions. The reverse side offers a wider area map, perfect for those looking to venture further afield.
Already Making an Impact
Feedback from Girvan Tourist Information Point confirms the new maps are already a hit:
“The tear-off town maps of Girvan are proving popular, with visitors saying how much they appreciate a traditional paper map.”
Volunteers use the maps daily to highlight Girvan’s key attractions, help people find a café, or give directions to nearby spots.
“We’ve had over 800 visitors already this season, and most people take a tear-off map.”
And it’s not just tourists making use of them, a new resident shared:
“The town map is really useful as we’re new to Girvan, getting to know the town.”
There have even been online enquiries via the VisitScotland page, with people asking how they can get hold of a copy.
A Community Effort
The new map has been made possible not only through grant support but also thanks to the backing of seventeen local advertisers, who value the good exposure and affordable advertising opportunity the map provides.
Girvan Town Team is proud to support this kind of practical, collaborative initiative, one that makes a real difference to how people experience the town and encourages them to explore more, stay longer, and support local businesses.
Grant Opportunities for Local Groups
Thanks to support from the National Lottery Community Fund and internal funding from Girvan Town Team, around 20 local groups have received financial assistance over the past couple of years. This support has helped promote grassroots community-building across Girvan and the surrounding villages.
